ShiftPayBase estimates nurse and shift-worker pay from numbers you type: base rates, differentials, overtime multipliers, travel stipends, and hours. Math runs in a Web Worker in your browser. We do not connect to hospital payroll, DOL databases, or staffing APIs.
Core formulas
- Shift differential: premium as % of base or flat $/hr × differential hours → effective rate on those hours.
- Overtime: regular rate × multiplier × OT hours (default 1.5×; editable).
- OT with differential (sketch): regular rate ≈ straight-time pay (including diffs) ÷ total hours, then × OT multiplier.
- Travel package: taxable wages + housing + meals; blended $/hr = package ÷ expected hours.
- Week gross / Shift stack: Base → Diff → OT → Gross.
What you must supply
Your handbook, CBA, or contract wins. Night windows, stacking rules, 8/80 eligibility, holiday multipliers, and stipend tax treatment are not looked up for you. Wrong inputs produce tidy but wrong outputs.
Known simplifications
- No state or federal income-tax withholding (gross-style planning only).
- 8/80 is a daily-OT sketch plus a period-hours hint — not a full DOL audit engine.
- No GSA per-diem tables; travel stipends are user-entered.
- Staff vs travel ignores benefits, retirement match, and licensing costs.
